Vocal Workshop with Rodney Gisick
Rod Gisick is currently the Organist/Choir Director at First Congregational Church in Amherst, Massachusetts, as well as an adjunct voice teacher at Amherst College. He also has a private voice studio in Greenfield, MA..
A graduate of the New England Conservatory (MM), and a former voice student of Oren Brown (Juilliard Emeritus), he has taught voice at the University of Massachusetts, Smith and Elms Colleges. For ten years he taught privately in Boston. With almost 30 years experience, he has helped many students cure vocal nodules and related voice-use problems, and especially enjoys building vocal technique. As a baritone, he has sung throughout New England, and was a member of Singers' Project, a professional ensemble in the Pioneer Valley.
Gisick has given vocal workshops for the UCC Musicians Association, as well as for church and college choirs.
He has studied organ with James David Christie and Margaret Irwin-Brandon, and has participated in Organ Academies in Montreal and Haarlem, Netherlands, as well as exploring historic organs in Mexico. He especially enjoys learning new repertoire and performing. As a pianist he has accompanied singers and choirs for over 30 years.
Gisick also designs gardens and volunteers for the Western Massachusetts Master Gardener program as a Master Gardener Intern.
