Help! My Church Wants A Praise Team!

Taking the Fear out of Contemporary Christian Music By Martha Sobaje, Director of Music at Phillips Memorial Church, Cranston, RI and Adjunct Professor of Music at the Community College of Rhode Island

The workshop is for traditional church musicians who find themselves in the uncomfortable position of being asked to start a contemporary ensemble or two perform contemporary Christian music with their existing ensembles, but feel inadequately prepared to do so. This workshop will give you the basics on how to provide your congregation with what they are requesting, and still maintain the musical integrity of your church's music program. Topics include Forming a Praise Team or Praise and, selection of music, working with syncopated rhythms, and the relationships of the new ensemble with the existing ensembles. You will go away with all of the essential basics you need to successfully blend your worship. The JOY Praise Team fro Phillips Memorial Baptist Church in Cranston, RI will serve as a live demo group for the workshop.
